Global Crafts 1 & 2
Art practices from all corners of the globe from ancient to modern times serve as a starting point for exploring a wide variety of materials and techniques. Analyzing art objects in a cultural context and learning how material culture functions in different societies is integral to the course of study. Global Crafts explores the ways in which objects are used and how standards of beauty and aesthetic values reflect important information about different cultures. Students will explore a wide variety of approaches to art making all aiming to form a better understanding of world cultures.
This course is open to sophomores, juniors and seniors who have fulfilled the prerequisite of Studio Art. Global Crafts 1 is not prerequisite for Global Crafts 2.
