AP Art
Advanced Placement Studio in Art is a one credit course intended for the independent, highly motivated 12th grade student of art. This course is time-demanding and based on quality of work, concentration of study and breadth of experience. Students submit their portfolios for evaluation to The College Board enabling them to qualify for college credit in studio art. Students elect to submit either a 2D portfolio, 3D portfolio or Drawing portfolio. All portfolios must fulfill the guidelines set forth by the College Board.
Sustained Investigation - A digital submission of 15 images centered around a conceptual theme or artistic concern.
Annotated writings, evidence of revision and process are among the new requirements for 2019 - 2020.
Interested students should have completed a three-year art sequence and are required to have a portfolio review with the Art Department in the spring of their junior year. AP students must also commit to one additional class period of independent study due to the rigorous nature of the course.
